Eight Lessons for a Happier Marriage

How to use this app

Eight Lessons distils William and Carleen Glasser's Choice Theory approach to marriage into a short, practical course. This app gives you four ways to work with it.

About the Authors

William Glasser, M.D., was a psychiatrist and the creator of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, whose ideas reshaped counselling, education, and marriage therapy over five decades. Carleen Glasser, M.A., his wife and co-author, brought her own counselling background and their shared marriage to the writing of this book. Together they built Eight Lessons around a single conviction: the only person you can change is yourself.

1

Read — Lessons

Each of the eight lessons is summarised in plain language, with its central teaching and the discussion question the Glassers pose to couples. Tap a lesson to expand it. Work through them in order — each lesson builds on the one before.

2

Recall — Flip Cards

Once you've read a lesson, use the flip cards to test whether the key idea has stuck. Tap a card to reveal the answer. Filter by lesson, or by the Seven Deadly / Seven Caring Habits colour-coding, to focus your review.

3

Ask — AI Tutor

Use the Q&A tab to go deeper on any concept — external control, the Quality World, Total Behavior, the five basic needs, or how to apply a lesson to your own marriage. The tutor stays focused on the book's ideas and Choice Theory.

4

Keep — Resources

A short podcast walkthrough and a one-page infographic are available to stream or download, so you can keep a quick-reference copy on your phone.

A note on the content

The lesson summaries in this app are original paraphrases of the book's teaching, written for quick study — not the book's text reproduced. For the full text, examples, and the Glassers' own stories of couples like John & Meredith and Tom & Janet, read the book itself alongside this companion.
